I was thinking about making a magnetic theater for a while but I couldn’t decide on the story. It seemed that some of the stories have too many characters, while others have too few. So I thought about nursery rhymes, and 5 little ducks seemed perfect. Scarlett loves ducks, and loves this nursery rhyme, and this one is also great for learning how to count and to do the actions in the song.
It took me about 10 minutes to make, and Scarlett played with it for at least half an hour.
You need:
Print the included duck illustrations, place them on top of the magnetic sheet and cut them out. You got 5 magnetic little ducks and a mother duck! Now stick them on a cookie sheet (I taped blue construction paper for a background) or on any magnetic board. We sang the nursery rhyme, did the actions. For those who don’t the this nursery rhyme, search for it on youtube, or read the text below.
Five little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only four little ducks came back.
Four little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only three little ducks came back.
Three little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only two little ducks came back.
Two little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only one little duck came back.
One little duck
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But none of the five little ducks came back.
Sad mother duck
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
The sad mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack.”
And all of the five little ducks came back.
After singing, Scarlett also carried ducks around the house, and placed them on a fridge and our front door.
Really practical and perfect for very young learners! Thanks
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you found it useful!
